The Coat of Arms used in our logo is the family crest of Anna’s ancestral family, Rodziewicz. Genghis Khan’s supporters, the Tartars settled in what was then known as the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and switched allegiance to Witold the Great sometime around 1350. The family Rodziewicz were strong supporters of Witold the Great who showed his appreciation for their support by rewarding the Rodziewicz’s with title and land near Lida, Oszmiany and Wilno, now Poland. The family Coat of Arms is called Herb Luk which is signified by a drawn bow and appears in the archives of Polish-Lithuanian nobilities. The Rodziewicz family name has appeared in Polish records for centuries.
As with all families, over time family history fades. When Anna’s father Stach met John in 2008, their common bond was this fascinating story. They discussed the family’s history and resurrected Herb Luk. Stach passed away in 2011 but his wife Ella of 52 years still lives in Szczecin, Poland.
